Project description
The project includes the reconstruction of the primary and secondary breakwater and the Portapisana cove in the Port of Krk. The planned reconstruction will secure an additional 165 communal berths for use by the local population and economy.
With the reconstruction of the primary breakwater, the total length of the new pier will be 195.70 m. The ground plan is not in a straight line, but is broken at an angle of 118° and thus divided into two parts. The width of the jetty in the first part (at the junction with the existing breakwater) is 22.0 m, and the remaining part is 12.0 m wide. The design depth for the pier is defined as -5.00 m, and the elevation of the top of the wall, i.e. the ground floor, is + 1.50 m a.s.l.
The total length of the new secondary breakwater will be approximately 83.0 m on the outside and 77.50 m on the inside. The secondary breakwater attaches to the existing pier in Portapisana cove and is not in a straight line but is broken at angles of 153° and 134°, thus the secondary breakwater is divided into two parts. The width of the pier in the first part (at the junction with the existing pier) is approx. 5.60 m, and the remaining part is 8.0 m wide. surface is +1.50 m above sea level.
In the cove of Portapisana, the construction of a new coastal wall with a total developed length of about 145.74 m (84.43 + 61.31 m), the redesign of the shoreside plateau and the installation of two floating piers of individual lengths of about 120.0 and 96.0 m are planned.
Project goal
The Krk port reconstruction project aims to increase the safety of navigation and the vessels sheltered in the port, the protection of the port’s assets and users, and the increase of the capacity of communal berths.
The project aims to meet all safety requirements for the docking of excursion and local fishing boats that use communal berths, and boats of the resident population throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions, which will favorably affect the availability of employment, work and other services in the local community.
