Project description
The project involves the construction of a new connecting road with two traffic lanes and a pedestrian sidewalk on both sides, which will connect the urban settlement of Nova Mokošica in Dubrovnik with the unclassified road Lozica – Mokošica – Komolac – Sustjepan (former county road Ž6254). The total length of the road is approximately 895 m, of which 275 m is for the intersection on the former county road, and 620 m for the new connecting road.
The project envisages 3 bus stops with a prescribed width of 3 meters, allowing buses to safely stop for boarding and disembarking passengers. The construction of sidewalks on both sides of the road, appropriate traffic signals, and clear marking of pedestrian crossings fully ensures the safety of students when arriving and departing from the bus stop, which is located in front of the elementary school.
Project goal
The implementation of the project removes the existing “bottleneck” and relieves the existing intersection, which further increases safety and enables reliable bus schedule planning, creates the prerequisites for the introduction of a bus line and further improves the traffic accessibility of the school and kindergarten.
The new connecting road enables faster and more efficient public transport, connects the Mokošica Elementary School and the Pčelica Kindergarten by bus, increases the safety of all traffic participants, especially children who attend the Mokošica Elementary School and the Pčelica Kindergarten daily, and significantly contributes to the reduction of harmful exhaust gas emissions and noise due to the reduction of traffic jams and congestion.
