Project description

The project refers to the construction of a passenger terminal building on the Vrulje wharf with the arrangement of traffic areas and installations from the scope of the 3rd phase.

The planned maritime-passenger terminal building has a trapezoidal floor plan with sides 65.68 m and 36.64 m x 52.95 m and consists of two closed volumes connected by a single-pitched roof. Between the two volumes there is a public open space with a garden in the middle – the atrium of the terminal building. The larger volume is the ground floor + first floor + technical floor, and the smaller volume is the ground floor.

Project goal

With its layout and geometry, the building separates domestic from international traffic, i.e. ferry traffic from cruise ship traffic. Separating the flow of passengers, i.e. ensuring the smooth movement of passengers on domestic ferry lines, directly contributes to the reduction of congestion in the port during periods when international cruise ships also dock in the port.

The project for the extension of the Vrulje jetty as part of the maritime passenger terminal in the port of Šibenik aims to meet the requirements for improving the passenger transport service throughout the year, regardless of the pressure of tourism, which will favorably affect the availability of employment, education, medical care and other public services to the island communities and the improvement the integration of the Croatian islands into the wider transport network.
