Project description
This project will provide 20 new modern low-floor trams that will operate on tram lines within the City of Zagreb. The length of the new tram vehicle is 20.8 meters and it will have a capacity of 115 passengers.
The trams will be air-conditioned, equipped with a minimum of 10 USB ports for charging mobile devices, passenger counting sensors that will be placed on all doors. The new trams will also have the ability to drive autonomously and an electrical energy storage system that allows for energy savings during peak loads. All vehicles will have adapted access for people with disabilities and reduced mobility. Infrastructural accessibility will be ensured by means of a ramp for easier entry into the vehicle and space in the passenger compartment where wheelchairs can be provided. An audible station announcement and door opening will be provided at all doors. Also, a visual display of stations will be installed in all vehicles, which will ensure accessibility for people with disabilities and reduced mobility, and enable their use of tram vehicles.
Project goal
The fundamental goal of the project is public passenger transport in the Croatian capital in line with a high European standard, with the service being accessible to all categories of passengers and environmentally friendly.
The project objectives are:
•increasing the number of passengers in tram transport
•increasing traffic safety
•reducing the impact of the transport system on climate change and the environment
•reduction of maintenance costs and total operating costs
•increasing the comfort and accessibility of public transport services for all citizens
•reducing travel time
•provision of services and accessibility for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.
