Project description

The project covers the road safety works on 12 road sections of the Croatian Comprehensive TEN-T road network, specifically D420, D413, D8, D33, D58, D1, D410, D55, D7, D400, D66 and D424.

The project will introduce the necessary road safety improvements of the most critical sections on 228.2 km of roads of the Croatian network identified. It will replace the existing road safety infrastructure on the 12 road sections with new traffic signals, signs and equipment, road markings, roadside as well as median crash barriers, crush cushions, traffic calming measures and improved visibility.

Project goal

The main objective of the project is to improve the road safety performance by removing or protecting the road hazards located in seven locations across the Croatian Comprehensive TEN-T network (around Dubrovnik, Šibenik, Split, Osijek, Slavonski Brod, Pula and Zadar).

Following the EuroRAP analysis of road accidents between 2014 and 2018, during this period there were 240 traffic accidents with fatal and serious injuries on the state roads sections to be addressed. With the introduction of the safety measures, this number will be halved.
