The documents in question are the Grant Contract for the reconstruction of the port of Ubli on the island of Lastovo, and the Implementation Agreement for the project of coastline rehabilitation and pier construction in the Port of Cavtat. The signing ceremony saw a significant number of distinguished guests gathered at one table. The Grant Contract for the reconstruction of the port of Ubli was signed by the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure <strong>Oleg Butkovi\u0107<\/strong>, the Director of the CFCA <strong>Tomislav Petric<\/strong> and the Director of the Port Authority of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County <strong>Antun Banovac<\/strong>. Minister Butkovi\u0107, Port Authority Director Banovac and Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect <strong>Nikola Dobroslavi\u0107<\/strong> affixed their signatures to the Implementation Agreement for the project of coastline rehabilitation and pier construction in the Port of Cavtat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reconstruction of the ferry port in Ubli, the sole ferry port on Lastovo, will be carried out as part of a 7,8 million euro project entitled &#8220;Reconstruction of the port open to public transport in Ubli, Lastovo island&#8221;. The Grant Contract provides the project with a 6,7 million euro injection from the Cohesion Fund, while the remaining amount is provided for in the National budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reconstruction works include the construction of a new ferry slip with a 110 m long mooring structure and a vehicle loading \/ unloading ramp, the extension of the existing ferry mooring, adaptation of traffic surfaces, as well as the port road connection with the county road. These are intended to increase the safety and the capacity of the port of Ubli, guarantee year-round maritime transport service and improve the island of Lastovo&#8217;s connection to the mainland. Should the implementation go as planned, the first visitors will be stepping off the boat and onto the new ferry ramp before 2023 is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The port in Cavtat owes its upcoming reconstruction to the coastline rehabilitation and pier construction project, financed with about 4 million euros in national funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Butkovi\u0107 made the following statement regarding the signing: &#8220;<em>Out of the two, one project is EU funded, the port of Ubli, the other is nationally funded<\/em>, <em>the rehabilitation of the port in Cavtat. The Pelje\u0161ac bridge and construction of port infrastructure<\/em>, <em>or as I like to call it &#8211; a renaissance of our coast will stay a reminder of the mandate of the Government of Andrej Plenkovi\u0107. The total value is about 90 million kuna. All of us living near the sea and from the sea know what building a port means because it is the front and back face of every town. It\u2019s more than just island connectivity<\/em>,<em> it&#8217;s security, it raises the profile of a smaller or larger island or coastal settlement. I am glad that we managed to contract that billion kuna, and what is happening in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County is almost 600 million worth of projects, and when other projects are launched, it will be 700 million kuna.<\/em> <em>It shows that this county knows how to implement projects, that it knows how to prepare projects, as well as its County Port Authorities, <em>of course<\/em>.<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; said the minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Including the project in the port of Ubli, six EU-funded projects of port infrastructure improvement are currently being implemented in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
