\u0160ibenik City Parking launched a tender in June, for the development of a smartphone app with an overview of useful traffic and parking information. The contract was awarded to Hrvatski Telekom j.s.c. with a bid of \u20ac90.236,90. The contract stipulates the app should go live within six months of the August signing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The app is one of the components of the extensive project “Integrated mobility in the city of \u0160ibenik – increasing the number of passengers in public transport”. Launched in July 2018, the project has already completed the construction of the Poljana logistics centre, commemorated at the ceremonial opening on 28 June 2020, and also includes the acquisition of 11 buses and installation of info displays at 17 bus stops in the area of the City of \u0160ibenik. Although a marginal part of the project expenses – less than one percent of the \u20ac13,2 million cost – the app acts as the link between the users and the new infrastructure, and is essential for the success of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The app will features a twin set of functions. Aside from providing real-time traffic information, it will act as a bus ticket and parking permit sales platform using the model of e-payment. Residents of \u0160ibenik and visitors will be only a few swipes away from parking availability information and booking a space, purchasing a parking permit or bus ticket, or checking the timetable, the bus arrival times and finding out the location of the nearest stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite a tightly concentrated arrangement of bike parking racks, the bus terminal, railway station, liner and ferry port, due to the poor coordination between different modes of transport car travel was the dominant form in \u0160ibenik, as elsewhere. The project of integrated mobility and the digitalisation of traffic information will make combining different transport services, as well as finding a parking space, significantly easier. This should lead to a noticeable reduction of the well-known gridlock in the historic town centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
