Since 2012, the passenger port of Stinica has been the main port of call connecting the island of Rab with the mainland. However, the unfavorable position of the port with regard to wind exposure needs to be improved by building a third slip. The new slip also opens the possibility for two ships to dock simultaneously, leading to shorter waiting times for boarding. It is necessary to reduce congestion in the port before introducing new ferry lines, which should ultimately result in better quality of life for residents of the island of Rab and Senj, as well as surrounding settlements in Lika-Senj County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With this project, having previously completed Mi\u0161njak on the island of Rab, in fact we are logistically making both Stinica and Mi\u0161njak ready at all times, and the availability of docking and the congestion occuring in these ports will be addressed in a superior way.<\/em>“, minister Butkovi\u0107 emphasized. He described the project in Stinica as part of a \u20ac270 million investment cycle. “I like to call it a renaissance on the Croatian coast because ports and waterfronts have never seen as much investment as in the last few years, and that is very good. Currenty there are 22 EU funded projects in implementation that will, aside from island connectivity and building new capacities, transform the panorama for each of these places.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n The works in Stinica should last for 15 months. In this timeframe, the contractor Pomgrad will construct a ferry slip with a surface area of 371 m2, as well as two supporting structures and access walkways with a surface area of 200 m2. The slip is designed with a minimal draft of -5,00 m, with side-on mooring at the berth that will be equipped with power and water pedestals. The contract price for the works is \u20ac1.8 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The project of the new ferry slip within the port area of PA Senj in Stinica bay has received funding from the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014. – 2020.
