\n Construction of the port and large promenade in Omi\u0161 <\/h2>\n

\n The Project will extend the existing port on the coastal strip, starting from the eastern end of Fo\u0161al St. and continuing in the Southeast direction. The port is intended for public maritime traffic (line, tourist, communal, nautical etc.). <\/h3>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The port will consist of a land part and sea water area, solid buildings on land and marine buildings that will provide the port space for secure berthing of vessels. The existing port open to public traffic with a 310-metre quay will be enlarged to form a 745-metre quay inside a fully protected basin, and an additional 280 metres of moorings on the outside of the breakwater for use in favourable weather. The land area of the port will be extended from the existing 1.250 m\u00b2 to approx. 10.000 m\u00b2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction of the port and the large promenade at the eastern entrance to Omi\u0161 is nearing completion. The infrastructural project includes the construction of a new 267 meters long coastal wall, which will enable the seasonal mooring of vessels. Also, a boarding and disembarking area is being built, further improving the transport infrastructure and maritime connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planned activities include construction on the following coastal structures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Coastal line A \u2013 the construction of approximately 300 m of coastal line A, 10 meters wide, with a green belt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Coastal line B \u2013 the new coastal line B will be realized as an embankment along the eastern side of the existing jetty, perpendicular to the new coastal line A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Coastal line C \u2013 the extension of the existing jetty by 35.74 m is planned along the existing jetty towards the mainland. On the north-western side of the extension, a new mooring coastal line is obtained with a 4.75 m wide operational coast, while the south-eastern side of the extension is protected by an armourstone wall and does not have the character of a mooring coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Furnishing activities (including landscaping, installation of water supply and drainage, power installations, and horticultural arrangement and irrigation, as well as commissioning of all components necessary for smooth port operation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project site extends from the existing jetty (eastern end of Fo\u0161al) towards the southeast along DC8 to Put Skalica. In addition to the improvement of the port infrastructure, the project also includes the redesign of the 7,435 square meter coastal zone by expanding the existing coast, promenade and coastal wall for the seasonal mooring of vessels. The promenade will contribute to the improvement of the urban layout of Omi\u0161 and create a new attractive recreation and tourism zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Improved maritime connection between Omi\u0161 and the island of Bra\u010d <\/h2>\n

\n The general goal of the project “Reconstruction of the port of Omi\u0161 \u2013 construction phase II” is to create optimal conditions for public passenger traffic in the port throughout the year with the eventual aim of establishing a regular shipping line with Postira on the island of Bra\u010d. <\/h3>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The following specific objectives are derived from the general goal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Increasing the number of lines connecting the islands outside the tourist season,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A shorter marine connection in case additional fire, police, medical services need to arrive on the island,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Improving traffic connections with ports on the neighboring island (Bra\u010d), as well as with mainland ports (Split, Makarska),<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Improve access to the workplace, education, health services, social, cultural and other contents that make up the basic components of the quality of life of the island population,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Increasing the security of the infrastructure in the port of Omi\u0161.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The completion of the project will significantly improve the service quality in the port of Omi\u0161, increase its capacity and ensure better maritime connectivity. The port will have a mixed use, with a section for communal berths and a part dedicated to public traffic. New port facilities will extend over a total of 745 m of mooring shoreline within the protected water area and another 280 m of mooring shoreline on the outer breakwater. The new port will boast a catamaran pier, seasonal mooring for 40 nautical vessels and 60 communal moorings for local residents of Omi\u0161.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The general goal of the Omi\u0161 port development project is to ensure optimal conditions for coastal liner passenger traffic in the port throughout the year and the establishment of a regular Omi\u0161 – Postira shipping line. Specific objectives for the project encompass: increasing the number of connections to the islands outside the tourist season, improving the transportation service throughout the year, faster maritime connection in cases of emergency, improving traffic connections with neighboring ports on Bra\u010d (Supetar, Sumartin) as well as on the mainland (Split, Makarska), improving access to the workplace, education, health services, social, cultural and other contents and increasing the safety of the infrastructure in the port of Omi\u0161.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The implementation of the project endows the eastern entrance to the city of Omi\u0161 with a new vista, as well as an added touristic and maritime value. In addition to the local population, regional and local self-government units and nearby ports (Supetar, Sumartin, Bol) will also benefit from the project. The ports will benefit in the form of better and more frequent connections with Omi\u0161 and traffic decongestion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
