\n Project description <\/h2>\n

\n The project plans to build a bulk cargo transshipment terminal in the port of Osijek and relocate port activities to the new location in a non-urbanized part of the city (“New port”). <\/h3>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The construction includes approx. 240m of coastal buildings with 2 berths, transshipment devices for loading\/unloading and transport of equipment (construction of a hopper with transhipment devices), access road approx. 300m long, railway tracks approx. 610m long, crane tracks and roads approx. 285m long, hopper dimensions 14.8×8.6×7.8m, a substation and the construction of the necessary infrastructure (water supply and drainage, electricity supply and lighting, open storage).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cargo terminal in the port of Osijek – logistical support to the economy of eastern Croatia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction of a new terminal on the river Drava, in a non-urbanized part of Osijek<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Osijek is preparing for a major infrastructural breakthrough that will change the face of the city and bring numerous benefits to the local economy. At the heart of this ambitious project is the bulk cargo terminal in the “New port” area of \u200b\u200bOsijek, which will become a symbol of a modern and sustainable approach to transport and logistics. The new port is located on the right bank of the Drava, in the eastern part of the port area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the technical sense, the project includes the construction of approx. 240 m of vertical embankment with 2 berths, transshipment devices for faster and safer loading and unloading of goods and transport of equipment (a hopper with transshipment devices), the construction of a 300 m access road, the construction of four railway tracks approx. 610 m long, the construction of crane tracks and a road approx. 285 m long, followed by a hopper measuring 14.8 x 8.6 x 7.8 m, as well as the construction of a substation and other infrastructure. The port infrastructure will additionally be equipped with water supply and drainage systems, electricity supply and lighting, and additional open storage space for cargo, enhancing the port’s capacities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Project goal <\/h2>\n

\n With the construction of a bulk cargo terminal, the port of Osijek will become the first Croatian basin-type inland water port and the first to adopt European business standards, thus becoming a strong logistical support for the economy of Eastern Croatia. <\/h3>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The general objectives of the project are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • raising the level of environmental protection during cargo transshipment,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • raising the security level of vessels in port,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • improving access to port infrastructure through high-quality transport connections with the new port,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • development of effective intermodal cargo transport,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • reducing operating costs as a result of using new equipment and technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Osijek as the first basin-type inland port<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    There are multiple positive aspects of the project, and the new location of the port. The terminal promises the citizens of Osijek a reduction in traffic congestion in the city center and an increase in the safety of river traffic, which is especially important considering the earlier transshipment was taking place in the immediate vicinity of the Clinical Hospital Center. Its construction will increase the safety of ships in the port, prevent possible environmental pollution, increase the accessibility of Osijek-Baranja County and ensure the integrity of transshipment of cargo at a single location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The general goals of the project are to raise the level of environmental protection during cargo transshipment, increase the safety of ships in the port, improve the available port infrastructure, develop efficient intermodal cargo transportation, reduce operational costs using new equipment and technology. There are also strategic goals, such as increasing the share of traffic on inland waterways compared to road and rail traffic, revitalizing the economy in Osijek-Baranja County, balanced development of regions in the Republic of Croatia and the EU, improving traffic efficiency and intermodal capacities, attracting new industries, added value and industrial development. The revitalization of the port infrastructure attracts new industries and provides an impetus to job creation, which will result in better long-term economic growth prospects and better regional connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With the construction of a bulk cargo terminal, the port of Osijek will become the first Croatian basin-type inland water port and the first to adopt European business standards, thus providing strong logistical support for the economy of eastern Croatia. The new, almost EUR 35 million, terminal for transshipment of bulk cargo should, in combination with the improvement of the availability of the port infrastructure through high-quality transport links, change the negative trends in river traffic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
