Project summary
The project upgraded Crikvenica’s existing port of county importance to meet all safety requirements for improved year-round passenger transport, regardless of tourist load, thereby enabling the integration of Croatian islands into the wider traffic network.
The investments improved port safety through the construction of a secondary breakwater to protect the port against waves from third and fourth quadrant wind flows, the extension of the Mala Palada protective pier in a regular T-shaped ground plan for wave protection in the newly planned port basin, and deepening of the port to -3.0 m. These activities ensured the smooth operation of the Crikvenica – Šilo (island of Krk) line.
