Project summary
The project envisaged the extension of the breakwater head and its widening by 30 m on either side, in the shape of the letter T, to allow for the parallel mooring of two ships or ferries.
The operation provided a berth for ferries up to 48 m long on the north side of the dock, and ships up to 70 m long (or two catamarans or smaller vessels up to 41.5 m long) on the western side of the dock. Additionally, the planned activities were completed, including the placement of a ticket office and the reconstruction of the baggage handling plateau.
The increase in total coastline length and port surface area has ensured adequate coastal liner mooring capacity for the ferry line Mali Lošinj – Unije – Srakane Vele – Susak and high-speed ferry lines Pula – Unije – Susak – Mali Lošinj – Ilovik – Silba – Zadar and Mali Lošinj – Ilovik – Susak – Unije – Martinščica – Cres – Rijeka, while also improving overall port safety.
