Project summary
The project funded the removal of the bottleneck caused by significant limitations of the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT). The implementation has improved the efficiency of cargo handling on the terminal and raised sea depth along the terminal, enabling the berthing of larger vessels.
The project activities included upgrading the existing infrastructure by dredging works and ancillary interventions along 100m of the Phase I quay wall, bringing it to the same 14,88m sea depth as the adjacent 328m Phase II quay wall. This has resulted in a 428m quay wall with a sea depth of 14.88m, thus enabling the accommodation of bigger container vessels.
