Project description
The goal of the project was the reconstruction and extension of the Coast of King Petar Krešimir IV, the corresponding pier, and the Liburnian Coast in the area of the Port of Zadar – Peninsula, thereby providing conditions for the regular and safe operation of coastal maritime traffic between Zadar and the surrounding islands.
The project encompassed the reconstruction of the Coast of King Petar Krešimir IV, 905.82 m long and 5.0 to 5.6 m wide, as well as the reconstruction (approx. 64.5 m) and extension (15 m) of the pier in question. The final dimensions of the pier became 80 x 15 m, allowing the accommodation of vessels. The project also included the reconstruction of the landward side of the Liburnian Coast, 600 m long and 5 m wide.
In terms of reconstruction, the project was divided into two parts: the reconstruction of the coastal wall and the pier.
Phase I involved the construction of a new foundation structure and wall of the Coast of King Petar Krešimir IV.
Phase II involved the construction of a new foundation structure and the wall of the pier, including the pier’s extension.
The reconstruction of the Coast of King Petar Krešimir IV, as well as the reconstruction and extension of the pier, created the conditions necessary for the relocation of ferry line 409 Zadar – Preko, the busiest state line, from the Liburnian Coast to the pier on the Coast of King Petar Krešimir IV.
