Project description
The completed project is enhancing the functionality and accessibility of the port area in Rab by reconstructing the Coast of King Petar Krešimir IV—an essential pedestrian corridor between the passenger terminal and the town centre. The improved coastal section, stretching approximately 365 metres between pier 1 and pier 3, ensures safer and more comfortable movement for passengers. Additionally, the construction of pier 3, with a total length of ~44 metres and a width of ~8 metres, has expanded berthing capacity and operational efficiency, thereby contributing to better port services and connectivity for residents and visitors alike.
The reconstruction complements the earlier rehabilitation of the Rab waterfront, creating a coherent and unified spatial, functional, and aesthetic whole with the existing port infrastructure. The newly constructed pier now serves as a dedicated berth for passenger line ships, enhancing the efficiency of boarding and disembarkation processes. Additionally, it plays a protective role for the port basin and supports loading operations, thereby improving overall port functionality, increasing safety, and strengthening the island’s maritime connectivity.
