Project description

The Action covers the deployment of equipment for railway vehicle monitoring at 9 locations: 6 pertaining to the pre-identified section of the “Rijeka-Zagreb Budapest” Mediterranean corridor and 3 pertaining to the “Zagreb-SR border” section.

Project activities include purchase and installation of Type 1 monitoring systems at 5 locations of the Core network, purchase and installation of Type 2 monitoring systems at 4 locations of the Core network, project management and other services.

Type 2 monitoring system requires the installation of the hotbox/hotwheel system, weigh in motion system, wheel flat detectors, RFID identification systems and the set-up of 4 montoring stations with appropriate hardware, software and connecting cables. Type 1 equipment additionally requires the installation of the train dimensions measurement system and dragging equipment detectors.

Project goal

Through the monitoring systems’ installation, the Action will allow automatic real time collection of safety data, as well as security and technical parameters of trains and their interaction with the rail infrastructure, thus minimising the risk of bottlenecks or accidents on the Core rail network.
