Project description

Continuing the modernization of 9.5 km of railway and 9.5 km of contact line, as well as the modernization of two and the construction of one rectifier station, the construction of an underground cable network and the modernization of 23 tram stops. Planira se nastavak modernizacije 9.5 km pruge i 9.5 km kontaktnog voda te modernizacija dvije i izgradnja jedne ispravljačke stanice, izgradnja podzemne kablovske mreže i modernizacija 23 tramvajska stajališta.

Phase I of the project contained the modernization of 1,677.11 m of the total 9,500.00 m of tram track. As part of the electrical installation works during Phase I of the project, an underground cable infrastructure and an overhead contact network with a length of approx. 1,600.00 m were built. The construction of the new Retfala rectifier station (“Nova”) and the reconstruction of the rectifier station “Gornji grad” have begun.

In Phase II of the project, as part of the construction works, the remaining 7,822.89 m of railway will be modernized and 23 tram stops will be built and equipped. As part of the electrical works, the rest of the contact network will be built in the length of 7,900.00 m, the Retfala rectifier station will be built, 2 rectifier stations will be reconstructed and a usage permit for the underground cable network will be obtained.

Project goal

The goal of the project is to increase the number of users of public transport, contributing to the further development of the city and the improvement of the standard of living of the citizens of Osijek.

Completion of the project will increase the safety of passengers, the availability of tram transport for people with disabilities, the reliability of the public transport service and the reduction of operating costs and, related to this, the more efficient operation of GPP Osijek.
