Project summary

The project resulted in the preparation of a study without material interventions, supporting the introduction of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) of telematics applications for passenger services (TAP TSI) and the Technical Specifications for Interoperability of telematics applications for freight services (TAF TSI).

TAP and TAF are subsystems of the trans-European rail system. Their implementation is supported through assistance to Infrastructure Managers and Railway Undertakings in developing Telematics Reference Files, merging the existing TAF and TAP Reference File sets for use within the Telematics framework and other registers managed by ERA or the rail sector.

The project also supports rail stakeholders in implementing and ensuring compliance of the rail system and its subsystems with the TAF and TAP TSIs. This includes the development and implementation of the unique Train ID, in line with the commitments outlined in the TSI TAF and TAP master plans, to replace the Operation Train Number previously in use.
