Project summary

The projects have successfully rehabilitated 23 hazardous locations, or accident blackspots, identified in the Republic of Croatia’s Implementation Plan for the Rehabilitation of Hazardous Locations on State Roads. These interventions have significantly improved road safety, with a particular focus on protecting the most vulnerable road users—pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.

Eligible project activities included preparing project documentation and carrying out rehabilitation works at hazardous locations. These works involved modifying, supplementing, and restoring all types of road signs and roadside equipment; installing and optimizing traffic lights; implementing crosswalks and sidewalks; constructing short road sections or bypasses; widening roads; building roundabouts; reconstructing intersections; installing protective and “New Jersey” barriers; relocating and constructing bus stops; procuring and installing necessary equipment; acquiring a special road inspection vehicle; and providing expert supervision of the road works.
