Project summary

The deployment of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) along the core TEN-T network, with a focus on the Mediterranean Corridor and the urban nodes of Zagreb and Rijeka, has enhanced the continuity of ITS services between Croatia and its neighboring countries (Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Austria). This project has improved data exchange and interoperability among Croatian road and motorway operators, thereby strengthening cross-border traffic management and contributing to more efficient, safer, and smarter transport operations within the region.

The implementation of the DATEX II standard has established a National Access Point compliant with Directive 2010/40/EU and ITS Deployment Guidelines, enabling seamless EU-wide data exchange between traffic control centers, data centers, service providers, and end-users. This project has improved real-time user notifications on traffic safety, enhanced traffic flow, reduced congestion, and provided up-to-date information on truck parking availability, thereby contributing to more efficient and safer road transport across the network.
