The masterplan pointed to the necessity of certain defined infrastructure projects, such as the need to complete the construction of the highway from Zagreb to Sisak.

The Transport masterplan for Sisak-Moslavina county – functional region Central Croatia, covering the next ten years, was presented at a closing conference held yesterday in Sisak.

The masterplan is an umbrella document providing guidelines for future development as well as an analysis of the state of the transport system of Sisak-Moslavina County in terms of organization, operational functioning, fleet and transport infrastructure.

The established guidelines for traffic development were arrived at by collecting relevant data, counting traffic, conducting surveys with citizens and other research activities.

The goal of the presented masterplan is to increase traffic safety, alongside the necessary reconstruction of existing or construction of new transport infrastructure.

The masterplan pointed to the necessity of certain defined infrastructure projects, such as the need to complete the construction of the highway from Zagreb to Sisak. It also stressed the underutilization of public transport services and offered further justification for the reconstruction of the local railway from Sisak to Petrinja.

The cost of the masterplan preparation project is around 940.000 EUR, and it had received close to 800.000 EUR in EU funding.
