Works contract signed for the project “Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure – Rijeka Basin”

A contract outlining the execution of construction works within the project "Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure - Rijeka Basin" was signed in Rijeka today. The goal of the project is the reconstruction of the entire railway network connecting the quays and piers of the Rijeka basin, situated right in front of the city center, used mostly for transhipment of conventional general cargo, grain, fruit and phosphates.

A contract outlining the execution of construction works within the project “Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure – Rijeka Basin (POR2CORE – RIJEKA BASIN)” was signed in Rijeka today. The signing was attended by the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković.

The signatories of the 28.557.218,13 euro works contract are Port of Rijeka j.s.c. as the client and Kolektor Koling Ltd. as the contractor.

The contract entails works on the reconstruction of the infrastructure in the Rijeka Basin at the the Prague, Budapest and Vienna piers and the De Franceschii, Orlando and Visino piers.

The goal of the project “Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure – Rijeka Basin” is the reconstruction of the entire railway network connecting the quays and piers of the Rijeka basin, situated right in front of the city center, used mostly for transhipment of conventional general cargo, grain, fruit and phosphates.

Project activities include the removal of existing infrastructure and equipment, reconstruction of 7,305 m of railway tracks with pertaining installations and 905 m of gantry train tracks.

Also planned are the construction of 1,002 m of new rail tracks and 157 m of gantry crane tracks, replacement of a concrete pavement surface of 107,394 m2, reconstruction of the drainage, waste water and water supply systems and reconstruction of electrical installations.

The project “Upgrade of the Rijeka Port infrastructure – Rijeka Basin (POR2CORE-RIJEKABASIN)” is co-financed by the European Union from the Connecting Europe Facility.

It is a joint project of the Port of Rijeka Authority and the Port of Rijeka j.s.c. worth 33.664.078,00 euros, and a co-financing rate of 85% was approved to ensure its timely completion.
